Three Israeli citizens were indicted at the Lod District Court on Thursday after a joint investigation by the Sharon police investigative unit and the Shin Bet found that they allegedly assisted or failed to prevent the June 7 deadly shooting attack in Kochav Yair, Tzur Yitzhak, and Sal’it, Israel Police and the Shin Bet confirmed on Thursday.
The attack was carried out by Omar Munther Yassin, an Israeli citizen from Tayibe, who killed Chief Sgt. First Class (res.) Haim Kalomiti, a member of the Tzur Natan emergency response squad, and wounded five other civilians before being killed by Tayibe police officers after a brief pursuit.
According to the investigation, Alaa al-Din Jaheim and Waam Masarwa, both Israeli citizens from Tayibe, were aware of Yassin’s intention to carry out a terrorist attack but did not prevent it.
Investigators also obtained additional details regarding Yassin’s conduct in the days leading up to the attack, police and the Shin Bet said.
A third suspect, Muhammad Aftima, a resident of Baka al-Gharbiya, allegedly supplied the Carlo rifle used by Yassin during the attack.
The Central District Prosecutor’s Office filed the indictments following the completion of the Shin Bet and police investigation.
