The international production of Santa’s Story is finally coming to Israel. Following sold out runs in the US, UK, Germany, Australia, Finland and South Africa, the play will take the stage from March 25–27 at the Air Force Auditorium in Herzliya.

Santa Erder was 17 years old when she, her parents and brothers fled their hometown in Germany to escape the Nazis. They settled in Spain but were soon forced to flee again, facing countless harrowing experiences before finally reaching Paris. Then Germany occupied France. Santa was corresponding at the time with Jack Pelham, a Polish Jew living in Rhodesia. Despite not having met him, she accepted his marriage proposal and left Europe as the Nazis began implementing their extermination programs. Most of the family whom she left behind perished at Auschwitz. Santa began a new life on an unknown continent with a man with whom she had only exchanged a few letters with.

When she turned 90, her family persuaded her to chronicle her extraordinary life story. Her autobiography was adapted for the theatrical stage by her daughter, the internationally renowned opera singer Aviva Pelham who portrays the role of Santa. The production premiered in Cape Town, South Africa in 2012 to critical acclaim and has inspired and entertained audiences around the world.

Interspersed with riveting music by three talented musicians and songs in English, Hebrew, Yiddish, French and Spanish, Aviva delivers a captivating narrative. Santa’s Story is a theatrical gem that resonates with everyone who sees it. Don’t miss this incredible production.
