Mikki Levy was just let out of Kishon Prison after 18 years behind bars. Where does he go? Brooklyn, of course. At least, that’s the plot of the new film First We Take Brooklyn, which is slated to be released by 2B Films in February. Levy is played by Israeli native Danny Abeckaser, who also co-wrote and directed the film. The character moves to New York after his release and tries to start a new life. But he quickly gets caught up in a mob turf war with the Russians in the city, and has to revisit his dark past.In the trailer for the film released earlier this month, Levy wears a heavy gold Star of David around his neck at all times. The film also stars the legendary Harvey Keitel, who has appeared in films from Thelma and Louise to Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Taxi Driver. AnnaLyne McCord, best known for her role in 90210, also joins the cast.In 2008, Abeckaser had a small role in the Adam Sandler film You Don’t Mess With The Zohan, as he did in 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street. The first film Abeckaser produced was 2010’s Holy Rollers, in which he also played a role.Holy Rollers told the story of two young Hassidic Jews from Brooklyn who end up smuggling ecstasy for European drug dealers.
