Hashomer Hachadash has launched a new volunteer initiative to support the recovery of Kiryat Shmona, bringing groups from across Israel to the northern city throughout July and August as part of efforts to restore daily life following months of conflict.

The initiative is being carried out in partnership with the Kiryat Shmona Municipality, the Ministry of Settlement and National Missions, and Keren 8.

Under the program, volunteer groups from around the country will participate in activities aimed at improving public spaces, supporting local businesses, engaging with residents, and strengthening the city's community as part of broader efforts to bolster Israel's northern border communities.

The volunteer days are open to groups of 15 participants or more and include professional guidance, transportation, and volunteer shirts.

Hashomer Hachadash founder and CEO Yoel Zilberman said the organization would continue supporting northern communities as Kiryat Shmona works to rebuild. "Kiryat Shmona and its residents are a symbol of resilience, pioneering spirit and Zionism," Zilberman said. "Now, as the city begins the process of renewal and returning to normal life, it is our responsibility to be there. Volunteering is not only physical assistance, it is a clear message to residents that they are not alone. We have stood with them since the outbreak of the war and will continue to stand with them now."

Kiryat Shmona Mayor Avichai Stern welcomed the initiative, thanking Hashomer Hachadash for what he described as its commitment to the city. "The support we receive from the organization and from volunteers across the country strengthens our residents and provides momentum for the city's renewal," Stern said. "Together, through shared action and mutual responsibility, we will restore Kiryat Shmona as a strong, thriving and vibrant city."
