Asaf Avidan delighted fans on Friday when he released a new song titled "My Old Pain" on his social media accounts.The song will be included in his upcoming album The Study on Falling, set to be released in November."My Old Pain" is a slow, melancholy ballad with elements of folk, indie rock, country and blues. The music video is a simple yet gorgeous production, shot entirely in black-and-white and featuring close-ups of Avidan as he sings.The Jerusalem-born singer-songwriter achieved fame in North America and Europe when his 2008 track "Reckoning Song" was remixed by German DJ Wankelmut in 2012.After the break-up of his band "Asaf Avidan and the Mojos" and his success with the club remix, Avidan experimented with his sound, releasing his first solo studio album Different Pulses in 2013.That album was followed up by Gold Shadow, released in 2015.Avidan last month publicized the cover art and November release date for his third solo album."The Study on Falling has been taking shape for the past months and is now in the last stages of preparation before being released into the world," he told fans on his Facebook page. "It's been an emotional ride, and honestly, I can't wait to finally be able to share it with you."Avidan sings and writes almost entirely in English. The son of diplomats in the Israeli Foreign Office, he spent many of his formative years in Jamaica and New York. He began his music career in 2006 after working as an animator in Tel Aviv.The singer sparked controversy when he told French newspaper Le Monde that he didn't really feel Israeli and no longer wanted to live in Israel.In response to the anger, he wrote on his Facebook page: "I always said I am not an Israeli artist, but an artist from Israel. I am not coming to represent Israel. I am not a politician. I am not a diplomat. And as a son to diplomats I never wanted to be one."Avidan will conclude his new tour in Tel Aviv on December 13 at the Charles Bronfman Auditorium.
