The 21st International Athens Film Festival, called Opening Nights, will feature a retrospective of the work of the Israeli director Eytan Fox.
The festival, which runs from September 24 to October 4, will show several of Fox’s most acclaimed works.
Yossi & Jagger, Fox’s 2002 breakout international hit about a romance between two male IDF soldiers (which won the Best Actor Award at the Tribeca Film Festival for its star, Ohad Knoller), and its 2012 sequel, Yossi, will be screened.
Other films in the retrospective will include Walk on Water (2004), which stars Lior Ashkenazi as a Mossad agent tracking the grandson of a notorious Nazi; Cupcakes (2013), a musical comedy about a group of friends who end up performing a song they wrote in a Eurovision-like contest; and The Bubble (2006), about a young Israeli and a Palestinian in Tel Aviv who fall in love.
Fox will travel to Greece for several of the screenings.
