Israeli guitarist-oud player Amos Hoffman is back in town for a set of gigs which will showcase his new CD, Back to the City. Jerusalem-born Hoffman now resides Stateside where he is a fixture on the New York jazz scene, and he has been a regular on the global jazz circuit for over two decades.Back to the City is Hoffman’s fifth album to date and the first since his 1999 debut release, The Dreamer, on which he focuses solely on guitar. This is a standard-driven outing on which Hoffman is joined by Americans trumpeter Duane Eubanks and drummer Vincent Ector, and a trio of leading Israeli artists: flutist Itai Kriss, saxophonist Assaf Yuria and stellar bassman Omer Avital.The current CD launch tour started yesterday at Rothschild 12 in Tel Aviv, and continues this evening at Hakokhav Hashmini in Herzliyah (8 p.m.) and Bet Ha’amudim in Tel Aviv (November 1), with another show lined up at Rothschild 12 on November 4 and closing at The Zone in Tel Aviv on November 5.Hoffman’s sidemen on the tour include saxophonists Hagai Amir and Eli Degibri, bass player Gilad Abro and drummer Yonatan Rosen.For more information: www.amoshoffman.com
