BGU receives 6 million shekel grant to establish entrepreneurship center

The Council of Higher Education awarded Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in southern Israel with a 6 million shekel grant for the establishment of an interdisciplinary center for entrepreneurship.The center, called Yazamut 360°, will host activities to encourage the BGU community to develop entrepreneurial skills.“This grant is a gratifying vote of confidence in BGU’s future and our ability to guide energetic, intelligent students, faculty members and Negev region residents as they transform their ideas into solid businesses,” said BGU President Prof. Daniel Chamovitz.The center will run courses, hackathons and initiatives to create bonds within the nation's startup ecosystem and BGU's 20,000 students, researchers and 130,000 graduates.“Entrepreneurship and creativity, together with community outreach and a commitment to participate in the social, business and economic life of the Negev region, has been a critical part of BGU’s raison d’être since the University was founded,” said Prof. Chamovitz.
