Two soul and blues icons are headed to Israel to provide some solace amid the current security situation. The Blues Brothers Approved revue will be performing three shows in December – the 19th at the Romema Arena in Haifa and the 20th and 21st at Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv. The Broadway- style musical is produced by original Blues Brother Dan Aykroyd and Judith Belushi, the widow of Aykroyd’s partner John Belushi, and features dead ringer Brad Henshaw and Chris Chandler in the title roles and sharp suits. No less entertaining, and a whole lot more authentic, the legendary Booker T. Jones, who led soul and r&b pioneers Booker T and the MGs will be performing on January 7 at the Theater Club in Tel Aviv.Over his more than 50-year career, Jones has established himself as the master of the B3 organ – and his signature tune “Green Onions” is memorized by any self-respecting bar band. Recipient of a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall Fame, Jones will be accompanied by his band, including his son Ted on guitar.
