One of the world’s greatest bluesmen, Buddy Guy, will be bringing a little bit of Chicago to Israel when he performs on July 13 at the Caesarea Amphitheater.The 79-year-old master guitar player from Lousiana honed his skills for a decade with such luminaries as Willie Dixon, Howlin’ Wolf and Little Walter before launching a solo career in 1967.A fruitful collaboration with harmonica player Junior Wells brought him to the limelight that forged a string of rock & roll disciples, including Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Keith Richards.Guy has continued to hit high notes throughout his career, with three Grammy-winning albums in the 1990s and more recent projects with John Mayer and Carlos Santana. In 2008, he was featured as a guest in The Rolling Stones’ Martin Scorsese-directed concert film Shine a Light, performing Muddy Waters’ “Champagne and Reefer.”Guy’s performance will dovetail with the Tel Aviv Blues Festival taking place from July 13-16, and including 40 performances in over 20 clubs and bars.
