Bezalel Academy of Art and Design’s department of jewelry and fashion hosted their annual fashion show at the Tower of David Museum in Jerusalem’s Old City last Tuesday evening. Guests were treated to 31 of the department’s recent graduates’ final works that reflected their own individual styles and creative visions. Out of this group, eight presented jewelry and accessories, five shoes and handbags and the rest shared clothing designs.
The jewelry, accessories and shoes were showcased throughout the exterior portion of the museum at sunset. Guests were invited to observe each work on live models that were part of the picturesque backdrop of ancient Jerusalem stone with the setting sun on the horizon.
Department head Tamara Youval Jones explained that the location for this show was very important for the overall experience and that placing it at the Tower of David Museum allowed everyone involved to really get in touch with Jerusalem’s atmosphere.
As the sun set over Jerusalem, the runway show closed the evening, featuring the final works of 15 graduates from the fashion department. Each designer showcased about five or six outfits and instead of being confined to an indoor hall, the audience got to experience an open-air environment, under the stars, which really enhanced the mood.
The graduates’ works will be on display at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design at Mount Scopus from July 23 until August 7.
