1. Friends of Soroka
About NIS 2.5 million was collected at the Friends of Soroka fundraising event. Proceeds from this year’s event will fund prenatal diagnosis and treatment at the Saban Birth and Maternity Center. The event, which was held at the Omer Amphitheater, featured a live concert by Rita and attending were Ruvik Danilovich, mayor of Beersheba; Maj. Gen. (res.) Yohanan Locker, chairman of Soroka and ICL Chairman; Asher Grinbaum, ICL deputy director-general; Dr. Shlomi Kodesh, director of the Soroka University Medical Center; Esther Luzzatto; and Orna Myara, director of the university’s Friends Association.
2. Lufthansa Israel
Ofer Kish, CEO of Lufthansa Israel, met Dizengoff Center CEO Dan Pilz at the inauguration of a 3-D floor painting festival that marks the 50th anniversary of Lufthansa activity in Israel. The huge drawings featured at the festival, which were inspired by destinations around the world where Lufthansa flies, were created by artist Anna Kogan. At the event, Kish announced the name of the employee who did the most outstanding work and who was awarded a ticket for two to any destination in the world.
3. My Wave
Tomer Bar Zeev, the founder and CEO of IronSource, together with Yaron Waxman and Omer Tolchinsky, the founders of the program called “My Wave” which uses surfing as an educational tool for youth, recently launched a new app. With an investment from IronSource, My Wave is intended to be used by past program participants and offers them detailed schedules, names of participants, directions, wave forecasts and image sharing.
4. Or Lamishpachot
Or Lamishpachot Association, which supports parents and family members who lost sons and daughters in military operations, held its annual gala event at the Dan Panorama Hotel. About 350 bereaved fathers and siblings were invited to partake in a special fun day. The families were welcomed by Or Lamishpachot founder Irit Oren Gunders; Friends Chairman Moshe Edery; MK Mickey Levy; Hadassah Fattal; Izzy Sheratzky; Kobi Oshrat; and Prof. Meir Heth.
5. Israeli Poker Tournament
At the Avigdor compound in Tel Aviv, leading businessmen and entertainment and sports people gathered for the first Israeli Poker Tournament, the proceeds of which – about NIS 500,000 – will be dedicated to Variety Israel’s activities for children.
The event was organized by young Variety members, including Andy Ram, Michal Slonim and Sa’ar Ashroff. The most prominent and successful players around the world participated in the poker tournament, which is one of the most important fundraisers of the year. Among the 200 players and fans who attended the event were Anat, Udi, Ori, Rona and Itai Angel; Variety Israel Chairman Uri Slonim and his wife Tami; Nitzan and Ronen Moshe; Gilad Altshuler; Gett CEO Mark Oun; Chairman of Elad Systems Yoash Trokman; Founder and CEO of Mellanox Eyal Waldman; and CEO of Electra America Gil Rushinek.
