YES highlights
YES broadcast satellite television provider held an event to highlight its new 2019 TV series. Many popular Israeli TV and movie stars attended the evening, which was hosted by Koby Gal-Raday, chief content officer at YES; Dganit Atias-Gigi, director of the YES drama department; and Guy Lavie, director of the Yes Docu channel. Attending were local television industry leaders, including Yoav Gross, Elad Kuperman, Pnina and Moshe Edri, and Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff, the creators of the popular series Fauda.
Aulcie Perry
Haim Slutsky and Dari Shay, co-owners of Slutzky Communication, and Rinat Klein, CEO of Slutzky and HOT8, hosted the premiere screening of Dani Menkin’s film Aulcie with a packed auditorium. The film tells the incredible story of Israeli-American Aulcie Perry, a sports legend, who for the first time speaks with full openness about his addiction to drugs, his unforgettable love story with supermodel Tami Ben-Ami and his return from prison in the US to his home in Israel. Attending were: Shimon Mizrahi, Yoram Arbel, Zvika Sherf, Udi Recanati, and Irit and David Federman.
Weizmann scientific club
The Weizmann Institute’s scientific club held an event at The Q, an event venue located in Kibbutz Galil-Yam, headed by Shimshon Harel, an owner of America Israel, and CEO Yael Goren-Wegman and sponsored by Credit Suisse. After the scrumptious dinner, Buki Carmeli, the former head of Israel’s  National Cyber Defense Authority, who is consulting for the Central Elections Committee, gave a speech entitled “Protecting the Civil Space of the State of Israel against Cyber Attacks: Another Government Resolution or a Real Revolution?” Attending were Weizmann President Daniel Zajfman and his wife Joelle; Yitzhak and Linda Sagol; Sigal Bar-On, co-chairperson of Fischer Pharmaceutical; Ido and Orna Nechushtan; and Avi Levy, CEO of Melisron.
Israel National Library
Last week, the International Forum of the Israel National Library was inaugurated in Jerusalem. Within the framework of the forum, some 80 leading thinkers, researchers and artists from Israel and around the world gathered to discuss the issues of migration, borders and identity in an attempt to examine the challenges and economic, social, political and cultural aspects that result from the migration taking place throughout the world. Attending were: journalist Thomas Friedman; Prof. Stanley Fischer; David Blumberg, chairman of the board of the National Library of Israel; Prof. Dilip Ratha, lead economist, Migration and Remittances Unit at the World Bank; Abby Joseph Cohen; Zvi Stepak; and Yair Hamburger, chairman of the Friends of the National Library of Israel.
Purim party
Partner TV and Netflix held a joint Purim party last Wednesday at the Beit Hasmachot compound in Tel Aviv. The hall was decorated as settings from various Netflix series, such as The Paper House, Narcos, and The Crown. Netflix employees arrived at the party dressed up as characters from the series Stranger Things, whereas Partner CEO Itzik Benvenisti, and Partner managers came dressed in costumes from the series Narcos Mexico. Attending were: Ziv Aviram, Arye and Varda Saban, Amos Luzon and Irit Rahamim, Dorit and Erez Meltzer, Arik Steinberg, Ron Wexler, Itzik Tsaiig and, of course, Partner’s presenter Eyal Kitzis.
