Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Reuven Rivlin were set to take part in a cornerstone laying ceremony at the site of the new National Library of Israel complex in Jerusalem on Tuesday.The new library complex is scheduled to open its doors to the public in 2020.The ceremony was also set to be attended by dignitaries from around the world, as well as Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein, Education Minister Naftali Bennett, Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin and Chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel Natan Sharansky.The new library building will be adjacent to the Knesset and the Israel Museum at the intersection of Kaplan Street and Ruppin Boulevard in the capital. It is being planned by Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron with the Israeli firm Amir Mann - Ami Shinar Architects & Planners Ltd. serving as executive architects.
