The father of Education Minster Naftali Bennett, Jim Bennett, passed away Thursday morning at Rambam Medical Center in Haifa. He was 73.
Jim Bennett was born in the United States in 1941 and came to Israel looking to volunteer on a Kibbutz with his wife Myrna in 1967 after the Six Day War. Having fallen in love with the country, the couple decided to immigrate to Israel and settled in Haifa.
After fighting in the Yom Kippur War, in the Artillery Core, Bennett returned to Haifa, began working at the Technion University and eventually established his own business.
He is survived by his wife, three sons and ten grandchildren.
