Yohanna Arbib Perugia, the former head of the Jerusalem Foundation and Keren Hayesod, was named president of
HaShomer HaChadash, an organization helping farmers protect their land in northern and southern Israel.
"I see it as a privilege and a responsibility to contribute to the enrichment of the future of Jewish youth worldwide through our common dreams, our common past, and our shared future. There is no better organization than HaShomer HaChadash in spreading the light of Jewish values to future generations,” Arbib said.
Perugia will focus her efforts on raising awareness of HaShomer HaChadash's activities among diaspora communities.
In the beginning of January Perugia and HaShomer HaChadash founder and CEO Yoel Zilberman will venture to New York to launch Perugia's new administration.
"HaShomer HaChadash has been active over the past few years in ensuring the safety of farmers and open spaces in Israel,” Zilberman said. “No less so, it has also been active in educating the young generation to love the country and deepen its personal roots while making a dramatic impact ‘on the ground.’ Now, we are prepared to expand beyond the borders of Israel the programs that have swept up tens of thousands of people across the Jewish world. Yohanna Arbib Perugia's tenure as president of the organization is a big step in realizing the vision we have set for ourselves.”
