Seven fires, caused by incendiary balloons launched from the Gaza Strip, were reported burning in Gaza border communities Sunday evening, according to Israel’s Parks and Nature Authority.
Fires were reported in Kissufim forest, Kibbutz Be'eri, Kibbutz Re'im and Nahal Gerar. Firefighters aided by JNF teams are attempting to bring the fires under control.
No casualties have been reported from the blazes, but 300 dunams of land have burned in Nahal Gerar.
Palestinians in Gaza have been holding violent demonstrations along the border with Israel since March 30 as part of what organizers have called the “Great March of Return.”
