Haredi head of Kiryat Ye'arim local council dies suddenly

Head of Kiryat Ye'arim local council Rabbi Avraham Rozenthal was elected unopposed for a fifth term in office last week.

Head of Kiryat Ye'arim local council Rabbi Avraham Rozenthal [Degel Hatorah] died unexpectedly during Thursday night from a cardiac arrest, he was 71 years old, he is survived by his wife and three children.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to his residence on Friday at roughly 2 a.m, the medics attempted to resuscitate him for 50 minutes yet despite their best effort he was pronounced dead.
Rozenthal lived in Kiryat Ye'arim, a Haredi local council in the district of Jerusalem near Abu Gush, for 40 years and served as local council leader for four terms.
He was elected unopposed for the fifth term last week during local elections.
He was expected to step down in 2019 in favor of Degel HaTorah member Yithak Ravitz.
