IDF chief of staff ejects officer who left classified documents in car

The IDF colonel left classified documents in his car, which was then stolen.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Gadi Eisenkot removed an officer from his position on Tuesday, a week after he was found to have left classified documents in his car, which was stolen.
The colonel, an artillery commander from the Northern Command, was ejected following a Military Police investigation into the incident. Last week, the officer was suspended after his vehicle was stolen, the army announced.
According to the army, the colonel kept classified documents in his car contrary to army regulations. The decision to suspend him was made by Eisenkot and OC Northern Command Maj.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi.
Separately, the head of the Technological and Logistics Branch, Maj.-Gen. Kobi Barak, announced the setting up of a commission of inquiry headed by a colonel, to look into how a soldier was allowed to eat food he was allergic to last week, leading to his collapse and hospitalization.
Military Police is investigating the incident. The IDF said it will “continue to accompany” the family of the soldier.
