IDF formulating new multi-year plan under Kochavi

One hundred days after IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi took the reins, Israel’s military is in the process of formulating a new multi-year plan.
The IDF is using the motto of “readiness and change” as the base of the multi-year plan’s implementation. Preparedness – Improving the readiness of troops in the event of a military confrontation or war in the short term. Changing – Modifying and adapting combat methods.
Under the plan, there will be a change in the formulation of the operational concept of victory of the IDF, which will include new concepts and methods of warfare which have been adapted to the challenges of the urban battlefield saturated with enemy fire.
The IDF will also spread capabilities to all the operational-end units (battalions and companies), get different branches to work together in maneuvering and defense, and empower troops and commanders in the field. There will also be a digital transformation in the IDF, where all troops will be connected-from the pilot in the sky to the platoon commander on the ground.
The plan, which will focus on the preparedness of troops for future war, will preserve the increased training which was implemented under the Gideon multi-year plan (an increase from 13 weeks to 17 weeks of consecutive training), as well as the procurement of spare parts.
Alongside the ongoing work to formulate the multi-year plan, a number of immediate decisions have been made, including:
Prioritizing the operational edge of the IDF by allocating resources to improve the capabilities of the air force and other corps in order to strengthen the capability of the fighting force, to destroy an enemy and to negate its capabilities with greater force and speed.
Digital transformation by establishing a General Staff Directorate that will lead the issue with the understanding that advancing the matter will enable connectivity and networking between all forces and platforms on the battlefield.
The IDF will establish Multidisciplinary Target Mission Directorate which will act as an integrated headquarters for Military Intelligence and the Air Force in cooperation with the regional commands, which will lead to increased efficiency in the various sectors by integrating advanced intelligence capabilities, super-computing and broad information analysis advanced systems.
The IDF will also establish a multi-dimensional unit that will integrate the capabilities of infantry, engineering, anti-tank, artillery, air and intelligence. It will be the model unit for future changes in the maneuvering of. For security reasons, nothing more can be said of the new unit.
