US President Donald Trump ordered officials to grant his son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner top-secret security clearance, the New York Times reported last week.
Kushner's attorney Abbe Lowell said that he “was not aware of nor told of any request for or action by [US] President [Donald Trump] to be involved in the security clearance process [for Jared Kushner],” according to NBC reporter Ken Dilanian on Saturday.

House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) demanded that all documents related to the granting of Kushner's security clearance be handed over.
House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) said that Trump showed “utter disregard for our national security,” and that “there is no nepotism exception for background investigations.”
Joe Scarborough from MSNBC went so far as to say,“The president lies every day, lies repeatedly every day… the recklessness and the lying by Ivanka [Trump] and Donald Trump show once again they are just extraordinarily reckless people in charge of some of the most sensitive secrets in the United States government.”
