Israel Police files indictment against two for murder of minor Yara Ayub

Ayub was found in a garbage can near a bakery in the village on Monday November 16 after being reported missing three days before.

Israel Police has filed indictments against two suspects, one minor and one adult, for the murder of Yara Ayub in the village of Gush Halav in November.
The prosecutor of the Northern District filed the indictment along with a request for detention until the end of the proceedings, after an intensive, complex, sensitive and rapid investigation conducted by the district's crime division, the police spokesperson said.
Ayub was found in a garbage can near a bakery in the village on Monday November 16 after being reported missing three days before. The police, which found the body, said that the 16 year old's throat was slit and additional stabbing wounds were found on her upper body.
One of the suspects, Muhammad Abu Zeinab, 29, was arrested a day after the teen went missing and has been detained since. Zeinab and the other suspect, a minor whose name and details are under gag order, carried out the murder together in the bakery that Zeinab runs, the investigation concluded.
The police said that over 150 people were investigated in connection with the murder. Three members of Zeinab's family were arrested on suspicion of assistance in the murder, but were released after 30 days. A final decision on their case has not yet been made.
