Israeli businessman Dudi Wiessman has invested in Aviation Gin, the distilled spirit brand owned by Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds.
Wiessman partnered with Shelly Stein, president of Southern Glazers Wine and Spirits who led a group of investors that now holds 40% of Aviation Gin.
In February, Reynolds, who is one of the most famous actors in the United States and star of the Deadpool series, announced that he had purchased the Portland-based liquor company. “In the long and in no way disastrous marriage of showbiz and alcohol, so happy to announce I’m the proud owner of a gin company… @AviationGin,” the actor wrote on Twitter to his 12 million followers.
Last month, Reynolds released a film – described as hilarious by many critics – in which he explained the process of producing gin, which he said included having the bottle ordained by the Unitarian Church of Fresno, California.
Wiessman is the owner of the Sonol energy company and the Tulip Winery in Israel. He was the founder of Alon USA Energy Inc. which merged with Delek US Holdings in 2017. He also serves as chairman of Alon USA Partners and is one of the major private investors of Delek US Holdings.
Wiessman and his wife Bruria recently received an award from Rabin Medical Center for their efforts to advance the Israeli health system. One example of Weissman’s work was a $2 million deal signed between the hospital and UT Southwestern Medical Center that is located in Dallas, Texas, whose president Dr. Daniel Podolsky came especially to Israel to participate in the award ceremony.
