Jordanian indicted for attempted murder of Israelis in Eilat

The day before the attack, the terrorist requested that his family videotape him reading his will.

An indictment was filed in the Be'er Sheva District Court on Friday morning against a 28-year-old Jordanian citizen who injured two Israelis in Eilat last month in a failed murder attempt.
According to the indictment, which was filed by the Southern District Attorney's Office, the background to  the incident was nationalist, and Khalaf has planned to carry out an attack against Israelis for more than a decade.  He is charged with several counts of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit a crime that is a terrorist act, and preparation for murder that is a terrorist act.
The Attorney's Office  requested that the defendant be arrested until the end of the legal proceedings against him.
The Israeli were working as divers, performing underwater work as part of a renovation at the dock in the Eilat port. Khalaf attacked the divers with a hammer, moderately wounding them. Jordanian workers intervened and transferred him to the Eilat police force.
The indictment stated that the terrorist wished "to murder Israelis and Jews due to his identification with the Palestinian people, for Palestine and God, and as revenge for the occupation, with the intention of harming state security."
The day before the attack, the terrorist requested that his family videotape him reading his will in Aqaba, Jordan, a city bordering Eilat. In the video, he requested that his parents take care of his wife and children. He also praised jihad and quoted a passage from the Koran,  "Do not think of someone who died for the sake of the dead, but lives and breathes with God."
