Yesh Atid Leader Yair Lapid protested against the Nation-State Law on Wednesday in Tel Aviv.Lapid invited dozens of activists into his home to discuss amendments to the law."I am ashamed that Israeli citizens, fighters, bereaved parents and IDF disabled veterans should go from house to house to ask for the most basic thing, equality," Lapid said."The Druze have always been our full partners, and the current law undermines this partnership," Former deputy Mossad Chief Ram Ben Barak, who was at the protest, said. "A citizen is a citizen, even in a Jewish nation-state where we want to incorporate the values of a Jewish and democratic state."Lapid rally comes just a few days after Former IDF chief of staff Benny Gantz made his first political statement, vowing to fix Nation-State Law.“I will do everything in my power to fix the Nation-State Law,” Gantz said.Lapid took this chance to promote his party’s version of the controversial law.“Benny Gantz expresses a worthy moral position on amending the national law,” Lapid wrote on Facebook. “It is important that there be a law that conforms to the values of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state. Therefore, one of the first things that will be done when we gain power will be the amendment of the current Nation-State Law to the Nation-State Law of Benny Begin and Yesh Atid.”Gil Hoffman contributed to this report.
