Lone Soldiers to receive grant at ceremony honoring their service
The Jewish Agency's WINGS program helps released soldiers take their first steps as civilians with grants provided by Keren Hayesod.

Some 70 immigrants will receive a special grant from the WINGS program at an event honoring immigrant lone soldiers this week. The event, organized by The Jewish Agency for Israel, the Merage Foundation and Keren Hayesod was held in conjunction with Israel's 70th anniversary.Each year, about 3,000 immigrants from around the world enlists in the IDF. The WINGS program, operated by The Jewish Agency for Israel and Merage Foundation, accompanies immigrant lone soldiers before their conscription, during their military service and up to two years after they complete their service.The grant, provided by Keren Hayesod, is designed the soldiers as they encounter challenges during their first steps as citizens of Israel.In addition, the soldiers will receive personal guidance from counselors of the Wings program to help them integrate intoeducational and professional fields.The event will take place in parallel with the assembly of the Jewish Agency’s Board of Governors this week in Tel Aviv, which partners with the Jewish Federations of North America, Keren Hayesod and the World Zionist Organization.
