Man jumps in front of train after stabbing wife, killing 3-year-old son

A man from Ra’anana stabbed his wife and abducted their three-year-old son, whom he beat to death, before taking his own life by jumping in front of a train on Monday afternoon, police said on Tuesday.
The suspect has been identified as Ilan Gadasi, 49, whose body was found at Beit Yehoshua Railway Station.
According to Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, the stabbing took place in the family’s home at approximately 5 a.m. on Sunday.
“What we know is that he stabbed and lightly wounded his wife during an argument, and then took their three-year-old son and left the apartment, but there were no clear indications that he was going to harm the son,” Rosenfeld said.
“Police carried out an intensive search for the suspect, treating the abduction as a kidnapping case. Then, Monday afternoon, a report was received about a man who was struck by a train and killed,” he said.
Rosenfeld continued: “Nearby the train tracks, unfortunately, police discovered the body of the boy inside a car.”
He said a forensics team confirmed the son was murdered and that Gadasi committed suicide.
The family, which moved into the neighborhood a year and a half ago, was not known to police or welfare services.
“As far as we knew from the family, there was no indication that he would cause any harm to the young child,” Rosenfeld said. “At the same time, police were eager to find him and the son as quickly as possible.”
One of the family’s neighbors told Ynet that they had moved to the building 18 months ago and that Tali appeared to be a “sad woman,” but that there was no indication of domestic violence.
“The mother was extremely patient with the children and their shenanigans,” the neighbor said. “We didn’t hear noise from them. Overall it seemed like a very normal family without fights.”
