Netanyahu and Gabbay spar in face of Gaza escalation
Likud and Zionist Union leaders could not help but attack each other in time of crisis.

Israel's biggest political parties and their leaders, Likud's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Zionist Union chairman Avi Gabbay, continued to attack each other Tuesday morning.While many cities in central and northern Israel sent out invites to southern residents, welcoming them to their homes after the Gaza border region was attacked with hundreds of rockets over the past forty-eight hours, Gabbay used a visit to a rocket-struck building in Ashkelon to lash out at the prime minister."Netanyahu sent millions of dollars to Hamas, and we received rockets on the entire south," he said, adding "quiet is not bought with money."Netanyahu was in a security cabinet meeting all morning, but an official response from the Likud defended Netanyahu, saying that he "is dealing with the military campaign, together with the chief of staff and all the heads of the security establishment.""If Gabbay isn't helping, he should at the very least not cause harm with unnecessary chatter, and stand together with all the people of Israel behind our security forces," the Likud statement continued."The cessation of rocket fire is a basic demand of the residents of the south, and not unnecessary chatter," an official Zionist Union communique responded." It is unfortunate that anyone who has given suitcases of money to Hamas still does not understand the damage he caused."
