NIS 200 million to be invested in development of Old City’s Jewish Quarter
Projects will include renovating the Tiferet Yisrael Synagogue, the Burnt House and the Wohl Archaeological Museum.

The Company for the Reconstruction and Development of the Jewish Quarter in the Old City of Jerusalem, together with Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Lion, is working to upgrade the Jewish Quarter, according to a report published Sunday by the Hebrew daily Israel Hayom. The projects will cost more than 200 million shekels.The Ministry of Tourism, headed by Yariv Levin, the Ministry of Construction and Housing, together with the Jerusalem Ministry of Heritage headed by Minister Zeev Elkin, transferred tens of millions of shekels to the various projects.Projects will include renovating the Tiferet Yisrael Synagogue, the Burnt House and the Wohl Archaeological Museum.The Jewish Quarter Reconstruction and Development Company, headed by CEO Herzl Ben-Ari, is working to renovate the Jewish Quarter and are currently involved in numerou projects that are in various stages of construction throughout the Quarter."We, as the Jerusalem and Heritage Office, are proud to take part in the process of renewal of the Jewish Quarter. We operate in all parts of the Old City - by making roads accessible to tourists, improving the streets and strengthening Israeli sovereignty, and now we have reached the crown jewel - the Jewish Quarter," Elkin said."The Jewish Quarter is the ticket to the Old City and it is time for this part to be more beautiful. I am proud that I had the privilege of making the strategic decision to introduce the Jewish Quarter into our work programs. We will continue to push and support projects in the Jewish Quarter and throughout the Old City," he concluded.
