The cabinet is set to vote by phone Monday on the subject of MK Gilad Erdan becoming a minister.
Likud sources on Monday said Erdan is expected to receive a bolstered public security portfolio, membership in the security cabinet, and possibly the Ministry of Strategic Affairs, control over the Israel Broadcast Authority, and membership in an inner security cabinet that will be created later.
For Erdan to join, one minister would have to leave and that will most likely be minister without portfolio Bennie Begin.
On May 17, Erdan decided not to enter the cabinet because Netanyahu did not accept his demand to head the Foreign Ministry or the Interior and Public Security portfolios together.
In November, the Knesset appointed Gilad Erdan as interior minister in the previous government, two days after Gideon Sa’ar left the post to spend more time with his family.
