Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke of the warm relations between him and US President Donald Trump, moments before boarding an El Al plane for Washington on Monday to meet with him in the White House on Wednesday.Netanyahu's relationship with Trump precedes his presidency, but this is the first time since Trump took office on January 20 that the two leaders will meet.Netanyahu plans to present Trump with Israel’s position on issues of vital interest, including Iran, Syria and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.“I am going to Washington to have a very important meeting with President Trump and I will also be meeting with Vice President [Mike] Pence and with Secretary of State [Rex] Tillerson and with Republican and Democratic leaders on capitol hill.""The alliance between Israel and America has always been extremely strong and it is about to get even stronger," he said. "President Trump and I see eye to eye on the dangers in the region, but also about the opportunities. We will talk about both as well as upgrading the relationship between Israel and the US in many, many fields.”Netanyahu added that he intends "to lead and to steer the historic [US-Israel] alliance for the benefit of national interest and for the benefit of all of Israel's citizens."
