Interior Minister Arye Deri was filmed using an onion to conjure tears to show his sorrow over the passing of Shas spiritual leaser Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, a video that went viral on Sunday has revealed.In the video that was made public on Channel 2's news magazine program 'People,' Deri seemed frustrated at his inability to cry and asks for the onion which he then proceeds to rub into his eyes.The onion produces the desired affect, causing Deri to tear up as he rocks back and forth in lament of the late rabbi.Since his release from prison on corruption charges, Deri and former Shas chairman Eli Yishai have battled for the sympathy and votes of the traditional Mizrahi community.Rabbi Ovadia's endorsement was seen as a key to controlling the party which Deri took over after the Rabbi's death in 2013.
