Yesh Atid MK Piron to quit Knesset; Stern to take his place
Piron will be departing parliament in favor of "a senior educational position," the secularist party said.

Shai Piron, the former education minister, is resigning from the Knesset, his Yesh Atid faction announced in a press released on Wednesday.Piron will be departing parliament in favor of "a senior educational position," the secularist party said.Elazar Stern, the former army general who served in the previous Knesset, will return to parliament and replace Piron by dint of his position as next in line on the Yesh Atid list.Piron joined the newly formed Yesh Atid in 2012. He was placed second on the list by the party's founder, journalist-turned-politician Yair Lapid.After Yesh Atid's impressive showing in its first-ever election in 2013, Piron, who is an ordained rabbi from the religious Zionist community, was named education minister.
