Rabbi Elazar Mordechai Koenig, founder and leader of the Breslov Hasidic community in Safed, Israel, passed away on Monday, at the age of 73.
Koenig was rushed to the ER at the Ziv medical center in Safed, with no sign of life. Despite any resuscitation attempts, the doctors could not save him.
Koenig, born in Jerusalem, founded the Breslov Hasidic community in Safed along with his two brothers. The community includes a synagogue, pre-school, talmud torah, yeshiva, and kollel.
In 2005 Koenig underwent a lung transplant surgery, after suffering from a respiratory disease.
