Knesset director-general Albert Sacharovich has suspended Deputy Knesset Secretary Nazem Bader in light of an investigation into allegations that he attacked the helpless.
The two-week suspension took effect immediately on Sunday.
Details of the investigation are under a gag order.
However, due to the severity of the crime, Sacharovich made the suspension public, “to prevent harm to the image of the Knesset and the civil service in general,” the Knesset’s spokesman explained.
The role of Knesset secretary is an administrative one, coordinating the agenda for plenum meetings and advising the Knesset speaker on matters of procedure and custom. The deputy plays a similar role, and either he or the secretary is present at all plenum meetings.
