Shin Bet member killed in accident near Gaza border

The circumstances behind the incident are being investigated by the Shin Bet.

An officer of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) Amir Maimoni, 29, from the Negev village of Zohar, was killed on Tuesday during operational activity near the Gaza Strip border, the agency announced on Wednesday. Maimoni was killed by friendly fire, it was announced during his funeral Wednesday afternoon.
His family has been struck by sudden bereavement twice before; an uncle died of a heart attack aged 17 over 30 years ago, while a second uncle was killed during his military service, aged 19.
