Maccabi Ashdod has announced that guard Shahar Shalmon will remain with the team for a third season, this time in the Premier League. Shalmon was promoted with the team from Liga Artzit all the way to the first division, averaging 6.8 points and 4 rebounds per game last season in the National League.
Shalmon (23, 1.90m) grew up in the youth department of Maccabi Rishon Lezion and played two years in the Liga Artzit for Maccabi Tel Aviv/Shoham. In the 2024/25 season, he arrived in Ashdod alongside Dan Kazzir and immediately became one of the most beloved players at the club.
Shalmon is far more than a basketball player. The guard is a full-fledged social media personality, boasting no fewer than 297,000 followers on TikTok and another 55,000 followers on Instagram. Until last month, he maintained a high-profile relationship with model Noa Boguslavsky, with the two separating just recently.
Shalmon continues on Ashdod's roster alongside Ben Gold and Robert Turner, who are also staying. In addition to the three, foreign players Isaiah Hill, Qudus Wahab, and Augustine Rubit have joined the team, along with Israelis Shawn Dawson, Omer Ben David, and Ziv Weissman.
