Maccabi Tel Aviv will dedicate its upcoming EuroLeague and Israeli League games to remembering the murderous attack on October 7, 2023, and the personal and social recovery in our time, the club announced yesterday. The team's players will take the court for today's match against Milano in Belgrade (19:00) wearing yellow uniforms with a black armband. During the practice session prior to departing for the game, the players stood for a minute of silence in memory of those murdered.
On Saturday night, Maccabi will hold its season opener in the league at Menora Mivtachim Arena. The matchup against Hapoel Galil Elion will mark October 7, the war, and activities that grew out of the events. On screens along the inner ring corridor, photos of the Maccabi fans murdered since the October 7 terror attack and during security forces operations will be displayed.
Children from the Gaza border area will stand with the players of both teams during the player introductions. Micha Biton, a resident of Netiv Ha'asara, will sing the national anthem. At halftime, the club will present the "Maccabi Tel Aviv - Pass for Life" team, a team mostly dedicated to trauma survivors from the security service.
Maccabi will also hold a ceremony in which the entire Maccabi family will jointly express gratitude to Maccabi members in active reserve duty. The ceremony, during which a shield and award will be presented each time to a different reservist, will be named after Cpt. (res.) Rotem Levy, a leader of "THE GATE" fan organization who fell in action while serving as a combat officer in battle in the northern Gaza Strip. The first person to step up and receive the award is M., who since the start of the war has served about 555 days of reserve duty as an officer in the Northern Paratroopers Brigade.
