Bnei Yehuda battles to 2-2 draw with Beitar in Jerusalem

Beitar has got just two wins to its name from eight Premier League matches to date, registering its fourth 2-2 draw of the campaign on Monday.

Beitar Jerusalem failed to win yet again on Monday night, drawing 2-2 against Bnei Yehuda at Teddy Stadium.
Beitar has got just two wins to its name from eight Premier League matches to date, registering its fourth 2-2 draw of the campaign on Monday.
Jerusalem took the lead through Itay Shechter in the fifth minute, but goalkeeper Boris Kleyman gifted the visitors the equalizer two minutes into the second half, with Almog Buzaglo stealing the ball from his feet on the edge of the box and scoring into the empty net.
Bnei Yehuda completed its comeback five minutes later through Marko Jovanovic, but Idan Vered ensured Beitar at least picked up one point with his goal in the 78th minute.
“We dropped two points tonight. We need to beat Bnei Yehuda at home,” said Beitar coach Ran Ben-Shimon, who yet again heard fans calling for his resignation.
“Things haven’t been going our way recently. This is a tough period, but we will overcome it. We are still searching for the right balance. I can understand the fans. There are stretches like this, but the season is very long. I have no doubt we will start winning and find our way.”
Bnei Yehuda has won only one match all season and was guided by interim coach Yaakov Asayag in league action for the first time on Monday following Arik Benado’s sacking last week.
Earlier Monday, Moti Ivanir became the fourth coach to be fired in the Premier League this season, being sacked by Ironi Kiryat Shmona after just five months at the helm.
Kiryat Shmona’s youth team coach Benny Ben-Zaken was named as Ivanir’s successor.
Kiryat Shmona beat Ashdod SC 1-0 in its first match of the season, but hasn’t won a game since, drawing five in a row before suffering a 2-0 defeat against Hapoel Beersheba last week and losing 2-1 at Maccabi Petah Tikva on Sunday.
It is the second straight week that the coach of a team that lost to Petah Tikva has also lost his job, with Benado being sent packing by Bnei Yehuda following a 4-1 defeat last weekend.
