A packed field of 54 golfers took part in last week’s February Monthly Medal at the Ga’ash Golf Club, with the tournament also acting as the first qualifying round for the Israeli net competition.The best gross score of the day, played under perfect conditions, was a 74 by Anthony Harris, whose 4-over-par included a front-nine of 38 shots with three birdies, two pars, three bogeys and a triple. Harris improved his score on the back-nine, coming in with a 1-over-par 36, including a pair birdies, four pars and three bogeys. In second place in the gross-score competition was Greg Eliot with a 76 Zalman Shahaff emerged as the winner of the “A Division” with a net 69, followed by Gil Bianco on 70.Veteran golfer Eddy Hoffman took home first-place honors in the “B Division” with a net 69, and in second-place was Moshe Nessis on net 71.Allan Gelman won the “C Division” on net 70, followed by Meyer Iny on net 74.Nearest-to-the-pin prizes, sponsored by Greenfield at Ga’ash, went to Marion Feigal and Gershon Feldman.February also featured a nine-hold better-ball tournament preceding the awards ceremony for the 2014 league at Ga’ash.The teams of Gary Vandermolen/Steve Weil and Yoram Arbel paired with Meir Dor both finished with 22 Stableford points in the event which teed off 26 duos, with Vandermolen and Weil winning on the count back.Nearest-to-the-pin prizes went to Mooli Avishar and Paul Karlin.Shmulik Almagor, who has been the league organizer and director since its inauguration three years ago, presented the trophies for the 2014 league.First place went to the Albatross team, consisting of Eliezer Peleg, Ga’ash’s head pro David Goldenberg, Amos Aharoni and Avishar.In second place was the Bentley team (Yehuda Levy, Yoav Shenhav, Hezi Magen and Ori Ilan), with third-place going to the Lexus team (Alon Granot, Itzik Ashkenazi, Aryeh Merdler and Eli Abramov.)
