Philip Stein’s Sox defeated Cerveceros for the second time in one week, outlasting them 13-10 in ISA fast-pitch softball action over the Pessah break.The Sox scored three runs in the first inning, headlined by Noam Markose’s two-run RBI single, though Cerveceros answered with a pair of runs in the second inning.The Sox exploded for eight runs in the top of the third on doubles by Josh Alter and Yoni Schwartz and a triple by pitcher Noam Zwillig.The Cerveceros bats came to life in the fourth and fifth, though, scoring a total of four runs, but a key defensive play by Sox left fielder Yoni Schwartz ended the rally.Leading 11 -7 going into their last at bat, the Sox picked up two key insurance runs to lead 13-7 and withstood a late rally by Cerveceros that came up short.For the Sox, Yoni Shwartz and Dani Harow each had three hits and Ariel Gilor and Naftali Schwartz had a pair hits. For Cerveceros, pitcher Ezequiel Ganz pitched a solid game in relief a rough outing by the starter.The Sox and Cerveceros both sit at 4-2 in the B Division, two games back of the 7-1 Twisters. In the A Division, the Warriors are atop the standings at 5-1, while the Fireballs are 2-1 to sit in the first place in the women’s division.
