This year, the artists were asked to create a one-minute video on the theme, “Stand Up for Peace.” The three winners were selected by a prestigious panel of jurors with a depth of experience in film, TV and digital media. The event took place at the International Academy’s headquarters in New York. The jurors were: Michal Grayevsky, president, JCS International; First Lady of Panama Lorena Castillo Garcia De Varela; Patrick Connolly, SVP of Programming for AMC/SundanceTV Global; Amy Hargreaves, actress and producer; Mozhan Marnò, actress and producer; Ben Pyne, independent consultant, Pyne Media; Stephen Segaller, VP Programming, WNET Channel 13; Daniel Wiedemann, bureau chief, Americas Office, TV Globo; and Camille Biderman-Rosen, senior director of the International Academy. The creators of the three winning films will be flown to New York for the Emmy World Television Festival.Make-A-WishBatia Ofer, honorary president of Make-A-Wish in Israel, the leader of the association in the UK, and wife of businessman Idan Ofer, together with Allison Loehnis, president of Net-a-Porter and MR Porter, hosted last week at Center Point in London, a festive event for 200 women from the art and fashion worlds. The fundraising event, entitled “The Art of Wishes,” was held in support of the famed organization that fulfills the wishes of children suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Attending were: Sarah Bailey, senior editor at Porter; Samantha Cameron, designer and wife of former British prime minister David Cameron; and Anita Zabludowicz, wife of Pojo Zabludowicz and one of the leading art collectors in the UK.Tal CenterLast week, a fundraising event was held for the Tal Center, which was founded by Zohar and Yankele Yakobson, who lost their daughter to cancer when she was just 26. The Tal Center supports young cancer patients and helps them recover. In the Tzahala neighborhood of Tel Aviv, the organization’s director, Shira Segal-Kuperman, spoke about the activity of the Stop Cancer program – the only organization in Israel that supports young cancer patients and promotes recognition of their unique needs. The artistic part of the evening was provided by famous sensory artist and mentalist Lior Suchard. There to support the cause were Atalia Shmeltzer, Shuki Abramovich, and Lonnie Herzikovich.Rimon MusicThe heads of the Rimon Music School in Ramat Hasharon hosted a fundraising event at the Tel Aviv Museum on Friday afternoon. Greeting and thanking the donors for their generosity were: Moshe Sinai, director of the Rimon School of Music; Yehuda Eder, president of Rimon; and Irina Shalmor, head of the Friends of the School. The musical troop consisted of Shlomi Shaban, Assaf Amdursky and Yael Kraus, a graduate of the Rimon School. All the proceeds from the event were allocated to financing school scholarships. At the end of the evening, businessman Udi Angel, chairman of Rimon’s board of directors, went on stage and announced that he was donating three additional scholarships.Translated by Hannah Hochner.
