Touching tribute: Friend recalls 20-year-old Israeli terror victim's kindness

“She was very kind. She loved her friends, her family. This is a very hard day for us. We just want to remember her because we live [with] this every day.”

In small back section of the Kfar Etzion cemetery on Monday, the parents of Esther Alvan, 20, of Efrat stood by the grave of their daughter who was killed in a drive-by-shooting in May 2001.
As Israel marked Memorial Day, they spoke with teenagers about their daughter, who was in a car with six other passengers, including Sara Blaustein, 53, of Efrat, who was also killed in that same attack. Palestinian gunmen opened fire on the car after it had passed the Neveh Daniel settlement.
Esther’s friend Minha, who has become like an adopted daughter to the Alvan family, also stood with them on Monday.
Of her friend Esther, Minha said, “She was very kind. She loved her friends, her family. This is a very hard day for us. We just want to remember her because we live [with] this every day.”
