Two IDF soldiers killed, 10 wounded in car crash in central Israel
They were making their way south on highway 6 in a convoy of three military jeeps when the truck driver, an east Jerusalem resident, lost control.

Two Golani soldiers were killed and ten others injured Tuesday night in a fatal car crash in central Israel when a truck driver apparently lost control of his vehicle and collided into a convoy of IDF jeeps.The two soldiers were identified as Sergeant Bar Yakubian, 19, of Netiv HaShayara and Sergeant Eshto Tespo, 21, of Petah Tikva. Both were posthumously promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant.They were making their way south on highway 6 in a convoy of three military jeeps when the truck driver, an east Jerusalem resident, lost control. The highway was closed to traffic following the accident with fire crews working to extract the injured and the casualties who were evacuated to hospital by a helicopter which landed on the highway.The ten other soldiers who were injured-one seriously, one moderately and the rest lightly were taken to hospitals for treatment.The truck driver was taken to Laniado Hospital in Netanya and detained for questioning by police after being discharged. He was later arrested and remanded at the Petach Tikva traffic court on Wednesday.Both the Israel Police and the Military Police have opened investigations into the crash. GOC Northern Command Maj.-Gen. Yoel Strik has also formed a team of experts to be headed by Col. Yair Natans to investigate the incident.
