Two people seriously injured in a building collapse in Ashdod

Two people were seriously injured on Thursday evening as a result of a collapse of a building in Ashdod, which apparently collapsed due to the explosion of a gas balloon.MDA paramedics, accompanied by firefighting and rescue teams, arrived at the site and began providing medical treatment for the two wounded who were found at the site, while searching for trapped persons in the building.According to the reports of forces present at the site, the building was two stories high, and the explosion caused the ceiling of the first floor to collapse and injured the occupants of the building.Avi Amar, a member of the Ihud Hatzala motorcycle unit, reported from the scene of the incident that "when I arrived at the site with an ambulance crew of Ihud Hatzala, we saw a lot of destruction in the building, which partially collapsed.""This is a very complex incident. The one-story structure collapsed completely and there was a lot of damage, and with the firefighting forces we quickly worked to rescue the two men who were trapped. They were conscious and suffered serious injuries in all parts of their bodies," said Eliyahu Edri, one of the first rescuers to arrive at the scene."We quickly took them to the ambulances and, while continuing to receive life-saving medical treatment, they were evacuated to the Assuta Hospital in the city.The large rescue team at the scene is still in the area and are securing the work of the firefighters who are combing the building.
