Pop superstar Britney Spears sent salutations to her fans in Israel Tuesday in a new video to promote her July 3 concert in Tel Aviv.In the video, Spears greets viewers with "Shalom," Hebrew for hello and says she's looking forward to performing for the first time in Israel.Spears is perhaps the biggest celebrity to be scheduled to perform in the country this year, amid a resurgence of big musicians performing over the summer.Last week Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber performed in front of a sold out crowd and later this summer comedian Chris Rock is set to take the stage as part of his comeback to the standup comedy scene. Also set to come to Israel is Aerosmith, Rod Stewart, Tom Jones and the Four Seasons.Spears' arrival is such a big deal that Israel's Labor party decided to postpone its July 3 leadership contest originally set for the same date as her concert.Labor chairman Isaac Herzog’s spokesman said the concert would cause traffic jams and make it too hard for party members to reach polling stations, so the party’s election committee decided to delay the race to the following day. He also said the party was having trouble getting security guards for the polling stations, because too many of them were planning to go to the show.Spears, 35, is multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning artist with nearly 150 million records sold worldwide. She was born in Mississippi and raised in Louisiana and became an international sensation with the albums Baby One More Time (1999) and Oops!... I Did It Again (2000). The visit is part of Spears’s summer tour throughout Asia, which is taking place as part of effort to promote her new album Glory.Tickets for the general public are available at three price levels: NIS 340, NIS 850, and NIS 1,100 for the VIP treatment.
