An IDF Safety officer released a video on social media Friday showing a damaged wheel io an AIL Storm Jeep, moments before soldiers were ordered to drive along a two hour stretch of desert road from Tze'elim to Ein Yahav, Ynet reported.
"What's the joke?" the officer asked in anger, "that when this jeep drives off, the wheel will become loose as it goes down to Ein Yahav, the jeep will turn over and two soldiers will be killed here."
"[The IDF] will then bring engineers from all over the world to check why, and at the end they'll figure out that the screws were loose," he said.
"This video needs to reach the whole of the IDF and then some. What a disgrace! The driver was ordered to drive this jeep to Ein Yahav, and the mother [of this] soldier thinks the army is looking after him."
The officer was conducting a surprise inspection and the jeep was towed to be repaired.
The IDF Spokesperson's Unit said that this case will be investigated. The IDF said that once it became known the jeep was not operational, it was struck off the list of usable vehicles.
