Young Likud candidate starts fundraiser for Netanyahu's legal defense

"The prime minister should be dealing with security issues and winning the upcoming elections, not how to fund his legal defense."

Likud Knesset candidate Moshiko Passal, a member of the Young Likud faction, started a fundraiser initiative for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's legal defense against public corruption charges, according to a statement to the press Wednesday.
"The prime minister should be dealing with security issues and winning the upcoming elections, not how to fund his legal protection," Passal claimed. "It is absurd that the prime minister needs to concern himself with submitting applications for permits to finance legal representation. There is no law preventing a public fundraiser for people who wish to contribute to Netanyahu with more than just support in the elections."
Passal's initiative is a response to the report that State Comptroller Joseph Shapira has referred a case to the attorney-general in which  Netanyahu received $300,000 from his cousin and tycoon Natan Milikowsky to pay for his legal defense, allegedly without the proper approval.
Passal also claimed that the police and prosecution have wasted a NIS 250,000 of taxpayers' money on the case.
