6,500-year-old village unearthed near Kiryat Gat

Archeological excavations along the National Gas Line at Moshav Menuha, near Kiryat Gat, unearthed on Monday a village dating back 6,500 years. Findings at the site included clay and stone tools and animal figurines, as well as goat, sheep, and pig bones. Despite the village's small size (some 1.5 dunams), residents engaged in trade, archeologists concluded on the basis of basalt tools that would have been imported from some distance.
