IDF troops shot and killed an Arab man from east Jerusalem after he rammed a checkpoint and ran over soldiers near the West Bank settlement of Betar Illit.
The IDF said the driver had failed to stop at the checkpoint and that reservists had fired warning shots in the air and then at the car tires. The driver, the IDF said, then accelerated and ran into a soldier, who was lightly wounded.
The troops chased the car into a nearby gas station, and when the driver again tried fleeing and ignored calls to stop, the soldiers opened fire and killed him. A Magen David Adom team pronounced the driver dead at the scene.
The IDF said it was investigating the incident.
